Celine the next IT Bag?

I know it is from last summer's collection but lately everywhere you turn there it is... The Celine's Handbag Luggage collection, by Phoebe Philo. Maybe it is because of it's similarities to the Birkin bag, but priced rather more attractive (around Euro 1.500,=) and better available.

These three, from s/s 2010, wouldn't look to bad in this years Fall/ Winter 2010 wardrobe.

And also check out these georgeous items, from the Jak and Jil fashion blog:

What do you get when two fashion icons join forces ... some great bags and a superb add campaign.

Gone with the Wind

Last year I visited a great exhibition at the Zuiderzee Museum in Enkhuizen (the Netherlands), by the way which is a real recommendation to visit when in Holland. The exhibition, first held in 2009, focuses on the creative ideas of the Dutch fashion world.
The selection consists of traditional local costumes and present-day fashion from the collection of the Zuiderzee Museum, and includes work by Jan Taminiau, Viktor & Rolf, Ted Noten, and others.

And now are the best items on display at the Keukenhof in Lissen (renown for it great flower shows with thousands of tulips and other flowers).
This year, the Keukenhof is open from 18 March to Sunday 16 May. Until 5 September 2010, visitors to the Keukenhof can take a free guest to the Zuiderzee Museum. Free admission will be given on display of the ticket to the Keukenhof.

Great jeans trend

As you can see in the list of blogs I like to read, I visit the Sartorialist (by Scott Schuman) frequently.
And I really like the jeans trend that lately he spots and photographs regularly. Pictures are by him and from his site: http://thesartorialist.blogspot.com/

Designer Vintage: Chanel, Miu Miu, Burberry, Manolo Blahnik, Tod's and more

http://www.designer-vintage.com/ was founded by two Dutch girls and is the place to meet each other for selling Ànd buying authentic designer pieces and fashion items.

Here you’ll find The best of the best: chanel, prada, dior, ysl, louboutin, missoni, louis vuitton etc. All those great designers of the world ! Remember those must-have Gucci shoes you bought this season? Slightly too small, but absolutely ‘to die for’. They’re still in that beautiful blackbox… Or that lanvin dress, the colors really worked for you in the fitting room mirror, only in the fitting room, that is... never worn. Or are you looking for Jil sander’s black dress from fw ’87? This is the place be.

How it works?
The moment you spot a beautiful piece on the site - that you simple mùst own - just click on the contactseller button and contact the owner about the price, shipping and other details. It is really quite easy. So... have a look and enjoy your shopping experience!

Some of my current favorite pieces on sale:
Wouldn't these pumps, with 9 1/2 cm heel, by Burberry London (Euro 85,=) look great under a pair of jeans?
Or what to think of these RL pilot sunglasses (Euro 100,=)
And my absolute favorite: this handbag by Tod's - only Euro 175,= !!!

G-Star: Fall Winter 2009 & Spring Summer 2010

Last week G-Star held their S/S 10 show in the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York.
G-Stars core business remains tough masculine jeanswear. But the last couple of years they started focussing more on their female customers as well. Which you could already see in their Fall/ Winter 09 show held last febuary but was really noticable in their latest show "G-Star Raw fashion show in New York".
The LA Times had this to say about it:
The biggest difference was that although it was still heavy on its signature military-industrial-aviator aesthetic -- chunky leather and denim straps and holsters, flight suit flourishes, rivets and buckles on denim fabrics with all the give of Kevlar vests, for the first time I can remember, the label was hewing close to the prevailing trends seen elsewhere this season -- particularly the love affair with blue.

But perhaps the most striking departure from past seasons was the finale, which, unlike past seasons, didn't end with the now expected surprise celebrity guest stepping out to recite a poem (last time around it was Benicio Del Toro, a few seasons ago it was Dennis Hopper).
Despite the optimistic vibe of the collections, it seems the belt-tightening of the recession isn't over quite yet.

Some of my favorites from this Dutch Designteam are shown below and are from the Fall/ Winter collection 09: The use of mixed textiles like silk, cashmere, and leather produced a visually striking interplay of soft and hard edge, shiny and matte surfaced garments.

And everytime I drive by a billboard and see this add, Elettra for G-Star Fall Winter Campaign 2009, it makes me want to buy a pair of jeans :)

If you live in the Netherlands you can find some great Factory Outlets in Amsterdam (Nederhoven 1) and Spijkenisse (Ouverturelaan 67).
