Memory lane: partying at the Roxy

When I was a bit younger and lived and studied in Amsterdam, I used to spend a lot of time in the Roxy.
The Roxy was from 1987 til 1999 an international renowned club founded by Arjen Schrama (Vinyl magazine), DJ Eddy de Clerq and Peter Giele (artist). At the beginning of the 90’s the Roxy was together with the IT one of the most important clubs in the house scene in Holland.
I was sad to the hear that at on 21 june 1999, the day Peter Giele was buried, the Roxy totally burned down because the airco wasn’t turned off.

Now Cleo Campert, the official photographer of club Roxy, has put together an exhibition "The Roxy Jaren" which brings back a lot of good memories...
Also check out the pictures from the past uploaded by Roxy visitors: You can visit the photo exhibition De RoXY Jaren, from june 18th till july 18th, LUX Photo Gallery, Gebouw Het Sieraad, Postjesweg 1, Amsterdam. The opening is on june 18th by Erwin Olaf, from 17.00 tot 19.00 uur. Website: P.s. tonight and tomorrow big party in Paradiso: Mokum on Fire, in remberance of the "early Roxy" years... ten years after
